Default Silverado 1/2 ton Crew Cab

Hi,
I am thinking about buying a new Chev. Silverado 1/2 ton crew cab and was curious to see if a Sportsman can fit in the short bed with the tailgate up, or do you have to drive with the tailgate down?
The box is a little shorter than the standard shortbox on the extended cabs.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hope you got lots of bucks...shes thirsty, about 12 mpg unloaded, and less with load. You will probably have to have the gate down for hauling, but its not a big deal.

My sportsman would fit in my 1/2 ton Chevy extra cab and I could close the tailgate. It may have to ride with the gate open is all

You will more than likely NOT be able to put up the tailgate. An easy solution would be to purchse a bed extender like this one: http://www.bed-extender.com/?source=gaw

As far as the Furd statement don't bother.

You will need a bed extender as DSeng said, the standard box is 5 1/2' long, as for mpg, I have been getting around 18 mpg so far

My 300 fits in our new '04 Silverado extended cab short bed just perfect.

Hey I have an idea, take you ATV to the dealer and ask to see if it will fit. They will let you try on shoes before you buy them. What's the different.....
