Drpped a valve... maybe saved me a trip to the hospital
#1
1st off, I dropped the valve on my 3 year old Snapper riding mower, not on one of the quads...
3 weeks ago, when I burned my foot ( some may remember the "gravy" incident )... my doctor was more concerned about my blood pressure, than my burn...he told me I better start walking, as soon as my burn had healed... I told him I was way too busy to start walking, & though I have a desk job, I keep physically active on the weekends, working around the farm... well, now I'm mowing about 10 acres total ( with the trails, shooting range & the yard ), with a push mower... I'll likely buy & install a new engine this winter, but the mower is just in too good a shape otherwise, to do anything else to... I guess my doctor will get his wish...LOL... I'm going to attempt to do what we were forced to do, as a kid... my brothers & I were each given a push mower at the start of the summer, & were required to mow at least 1 tank of gas per day, over the summer... I should be able to do a tank of gas per day, after work, during the week, so that I have the weekends free, at least for whats left of the summer... with the way my luck has been running, I'll keep the quad down, until I get the maintenace done... ( I was just running the mower up into the yard to change the oil & blades, & clean the air filter )
I actually missed a local mud race , I know, I couldn't believe I passed it up myself... but maybe it was for the better ??? because my foot still has open wounds ( from the healing burn ), my quad badly needs an oil change, & some basic maintenance, & I'm still behind on mowing, & working on my new small engine shop, I decided to pass on this last mud race... well my buddy, ( that has the 2nd fastest mud race quad around these parts... another Kawi ), somehow flipped his quad on top of him in the pit, & fractured a bone in his back... I wasn't there, so I don't know if it was a poorly designed pit, Or operator error, or a fluke, but he was ( at least intitially ) paralized from the waste down, & it took the EMT's over 20 minutes to get him out of the mud pit, & onto a back board, & he was rushed to St. Mary's hospital... the details are a little sketchy yet, as he was on a morphine drip, when I talked to him yesterday... this really shook up my wife, because she knows that my quad is dangerously fast, & that very well could have been me, if I had decided to race last Saturday...
I did, however, do alot of forced walking, & got a lot of grass mowed, & did get alot of work done on my small engine shop... but I will have to get over to St. Mary's tonight or tomorrow, to see how Loren is doing... someone must be looking out for me...
you guy's all be carefull out there...
