Cant wheelie an ATC250R?!
#1
I absolutely cannot do decent wheelies with my liquid cooled 250r, what the heck?
I see people do it all the time, but all I do is spin. I spin so much but the front wheel never comes off the ground on dirt. What am I doin wrong?
On asphault the front wheel leaves the ground about a foot in every gear through 4th, but no more than a foot.

Hey, that is just the great thing about two strokes. I think you just have to tug a bit harder on the bars, maybe even throw your weight back/sit further back on the seat. Seems to work on my quad, should be easier on a trike.

this is hard to believe. i can wheelie my 110.
an ATC 250R has mega-power compared to that. try sitting back a little farther on the seat. stay in the lower gears a little longer. you should have this thing off the ground by more that a foot for it to be a good wheelie... but still, this should be easy.

Yeah I dont get it. I can ride the tank on asphault and it still picks the tire up through at least 3rd gear.
On dirt it spins big time through 4th and doesnt actually start movin til 5th, why the heck cant I wheelie? I havent really tried jerking back but still.
Is it so hard cuza the short power band? I was thinkin maybe in the low revs it doesnt have the power and up high is such a power boost that it just spins and cant catch.

Put some holeshots or razzors on the back. Should be able to wheelie using the thumb throttle. You got a +10 swingarm on it?

Haha, no. Maybe it is the tires, I have the stock ones from 85 (good condition though)
I flipped it backwards today... I was at a stop sign on a dirt road goin onto a paved one. I was spinnin on the dirt and then hit the asphault and went straight over backwards. Dumbass.

Any good riding spots down there? I live in the northern part of Van Buren county. Nowhere to ride around here. People have been complaining for a couple years around here and now the cops have been brought in to stop the quads. Sucks.

thats the problem with spinning the tires. even on some dirt surfaces, you can hit a hard spot on the tires will catch and youll loop it or itll jerk to one side.
ive been racing on dirt before with a cross wind and it almost impossible to keep the thing straight all the way to 6th gear because its not getting traction.
