I recently have been having troubles with my wolverine. It starts hard and when on the trails it will spit and spudder if you dont keep the rpms up. I have cleaned the carb and it ran fine for 1 day then it started doing it again. any ideas on what could be cuasing this?

 

Clean your fuel tank and petcock filter. Take your carb apart agian, remove EVERYTHING you can. Clean each part. Spray with B12. Shoot with compressed air. Then clean your air filter.

Your engine is running lean from the lack of gas. There is something keeping that from happening.

 

yeah clean out the tank and carb and anything else that could be clogged. i had the same problem i did that and then i put and inline fuel filter between the tank and the carb and then i bought a filter funnel and home depot and i use that everytime i fill it. hope it helps

Do all Wolverine owners have some kind of problem with the carb?

Only those who drive it on pavment dont... Really, if you take precautions it will be ok. But dirt and particals have a lot of enterances into the carb. Keep it clean and it is all good.

To adjust the floats you will need the proper mesaurment for them (i dont not have this). You will have to measure the distance from the botton of the carb to the top of the float. You must adjust the floats so they are at the mesured height.

 

Blaster96- What kind of precautions do you recommend?

 

My frist precaution is to keep the mud level below the airbox neck that goes to the carb. Unless you have sealed it off with RTV silicon or lithium grease.

My others are:
~Clean your air filter regularly
~Always check the airbox to carb connection for a good seal
~Buy a new gas can with a good sealing top
~Clean out your fuel tank
~Clean the fuel tank petcock
~Tear down the carb once a year and clean the internals
~Install inline fuel filter
~Buy a filter funnle as suggested above, mostly used if you fill up on the trail

Even though, if you do these things will still happen. Heck In our 95 Wolvy some bug crawled down the vent tube at the top and found its self stuck in the main jet.
