Default help with CDI

Can someone answer me this:

What is the difference between a CDI and a rectifier? Does the CDI take place of the rectifier? And where is the CDI located? I have a 2004 Baja X.

Thanks for the info.

Default help with CDI

The CDI controls engine timing curves, rev limit, spark, etc. while the rectifier controls the charging of the battery from the engine stator. Two totally different tasks.

The CDI on a DS is located on the left side (when sitting on) just behind the radiator up under the plastic cowling.
