What honda should i buy
#1
This will be my first quad. I have riden some friends but im not expierenced. I am 15, about 5'7 and 145 pounds. I would like to buyy a sport quad. I have trails, powerlines, and sand pits to ride in. My friend suggested a 250 ex. Is that to small for someone like me or no? The reason i like the 250ex is ground clearence with the shaft drive instead of a sproket. But i would also like power. Any ideas?

I am 5' 7" and I am not at all cramped on the 250. But, consider that at 15 you are probably still growing, and will it still fit you in a couple of years? Still, at 145 lbs. you are a bit light for a full size machine, like the 400EX.
The bike is very versitile. Seeing it is based on the Recon utility quad, it will do anything the Recon will (high ground clearance, shaft drive, etc.) and yet it is 50 lbs. lighter, so it also preforms as a sport bike.
For me, the baloonie stock tires had to go, first thing. I replaced them with Holeshots (we ride mostly desert). It does have rather tight, limited suspension (shows its utility heritage), compared to the full on sport machines, like the 300EX and up. The motor will mod up a little, when you want more power.

you should look in the 400 class of machines, they have good power, the women in our riding group started on 250's and had several wrecks not from to much power but lack of it, and poor choices. since switching to 400 they haven't had any wrecks they can follow the trails and not worry about running out of power. our 300 some times comes up a little short, on power.

Get the 400ex and just don't get stupid on it till you know what you are doing. I am 6' 210lbs. and it is a lot to be throwing around, but that is what the throttle and brakes are for. If you get a 250ex you will be looking for something else in another year, the 300ex isn't much better from what I have been told. The 400 does everything well and you will never have to apologize for it. When you get to the point where you want more power go with a 416 or a 440 mod kit. You would be buying a bike you could keep for quite some time......and just ride controlled until you get bigger with more xperience.

I weigh around 150..give or take a few. I just got a 400ex and want something with more power.I have been riding for about 5 years tho. I think he should be able to handle a 400ex. He will control the throttle.

The 300 and the 250 are pretty much similar in size. I always loved trail riding the 300, because I can throw it around like some kind of toy. But, if you go to small, you will just be out buying another bike in a couple of years.

i think when ppl say can i handle it? thats the dumbest thing if heard....if ur 15 u should be able to handle almost any quad....note that is if you have had experience.....note if u dont have experience u could still learn on a 400 which is a very easy to learn bike....
