hub won't disengage??

only thing i can say is to start by checking the hub fluid level, or just change it altogether.
i have had an intermittent hub issue as well,,,, but i can get it to disengage by going in reverse, then forward.

did you recently grease it?? I am not 100% sure if the xplorer has spots to grease but on our magnum we greased it and then the hub wouldnt disengauge....then we found out the dealer gave us the wrong type of grease...the stuff he gave us was to heavy and it would make it engauge

when going in reverse than forward again fixes it, that means you need to change your hub oil

this used to happen to me all the time. leave it in 2wd then put it in "N" and trun it left n right a few times, then go in R, and back in to drive, if that don't work you may need a new hub spring, i did. i have takeing my hubs apart lots of times. mostly cuz i keep riping my 4 wheel drive boots.
