Default fuel shutoff valve not warranty?

I just took my 400 Prairie in because the crankcase was REALLY full of gas, not just a bit, but coming out the oil fill hole full. enough that it spit and sputtered after it warmed up.
The dealership replaced a packing ring inside the petcock and charged me 4 dollars and something for the part and 30 bucks labor. I thought the warranty was supposed to cover stuff like this. My goodtimes warranty doesnt expire until sept 2005. I allways transport it with the gas off, and if it sits for more than a day, I turn it off. Should I be going back? Anyone?

I haven't had good luck with warrenties, it's their call to say if it is normal wear and tear, abuse , or if it was a defective part, and of coarse it is never defective. These dealers say they stand behind their products but when it comes time to pay up, they have a list of reasons why you have to pay. thats why I think these extended warrenties are a waste of money, I know everything that I have broken over the years was my fault and they know that too.

I also have a 1999 Prairie 400, The fuel shutoff failed on it also. Must be a problem area for the 400's.

I should have stopped riding it a few months back, I turned off the fuel knowing it would sit for a few weeks, and ran the bike to drain the carb. But it kept running and wouldnt quit, I finally got bored sitting still on it and shut it down. Oh well. NOW I get to flush out the engine real good and waste some more money on oil. Then its off to find a cheaper version of Kawasaki's $400 dollar front CV Joint before it breaks and I kill myself. :-)
