We Dirt Drag in KY... My Husband on his banshee and I on my DS. This year I got her down to 4.86...This was on a motor built by Eric, Lectron carb, studs, drag pipe. Banshee JJ & A axle and swingarm, struts, 520 chain with almost 100 lbs cut off total ..I purchased a Boondockers Nitrous kit for next year... Hope to get an edge.....
Chris (husband) runs 3.80`s on his Banshee!

I dirt drag everywhere I can. Earlier this summer, I ran consistant 4.82 in the 300 foot. Ive since lost 40 lbs off the machine, lengthened it from plus 6 to plus 8, and now have it lowered for better weight transfer. Hopefully, this will put me into the 4.6 - 4.7 range. I know that doesnt sound like much, but it sure is a struggle at this point. I have a huge event next weekend on the 12th, with pro-tree lights and timers. We will see what the changes have done.

When mine was bone stock except for modded endcap with stock suspension/no wheelie bar my best time was a 5.79.
Same setup except strutted with wheelie bar best was 5.56.
Haven't ran with wheelie bar after engine mods, but with +4" swingarm ran a 5.30 at Paducah.
Of course there are big differences in different dirt tracks. Loose, tight, uphill, downhill, and even length.

Dirt drags: I've raced a dozen different DS650's straight out of the crate (with hang tags still attached) over the last few years and 5.4's is normal if you can keep the front end down.
Add a good pipe and Lectron: 5.1's are easy (I've seen some 5.0's)
Add the correct ported head, cams, and piston: 4.8's are easy
Cut a few pounds off the bike: knock off another 0.1
My 715cc ran consistent 4.71 without any weight reductions when it was making 75-76 hp.
Now that it's making 85-86hp and lost some weight, and improved the suspension, I am hoping for 4.4 to low 4.5's when we get back to a timed track.
Sand and dirt in this area run the exact same times, but I've heard the deep, dry sand out west can suck out 0.2 tenths from the time. I hope to get out there sometime.

well i've watched several stock or even piped ds's turn 6.2 to 6.4 at dunefest that is about as good as it gets stock there, the stage two hit 5.8 last year few guys saw it run at ds days last year, nothing special but it put it to the stage ones and the likes. i turned 5.0 this year at dunefest and that was sqeezing the bottle, so either our sand robs a little more than .2 or something isn't right. and since i''ve hit that magic runner up twice this year king of the dunes single cylinder and fourstroke class it must not be that slow i hit .5 regular of the line.

222,
What kind of sand can we expect to find at St. Joes? We will be out there later this month for a weekend. Ive got my fingers crossed for you and that 4.4 - 4.5 time. That would be great. There is alot of power needed to get down that low. Ive been concentrating on drag racing since early spring this year, and have learned a great deal. You and Eric have got to stop coming out with new mods for more power!! My wife was extremely patient and understanding with me last spring, Im not sure she will be the same for the next round of changes. LOL
Race On!!
