what method did you use to remove ball joints from spindle?

How'd you get the tapered shaft out of the spindle, without any damage to anything including rubber boot, aluminum spindle, threads, or a-arm. I define damage as gouges, scrapes, tears, dings, dents, hell even scratches.

MotionPro makes a tool. Basically it is a body with threads you turn to act as a press.
I ruined a set trying to get them out with a hammer.
get a short bolt with a nut on it. Thread the nut up on the bolt and put the threaded part of the nut in the driver part of the socket (bolt will have to be small enough to fit inside a 3/8" socket. As you move the bolt down towards the socket the head of the bolt will expand that will fit inside the driver part of a socket. Thread the nut down onto the socket to expand it onto the pressed in piece.
Hope this makes sense. I haven't tried it but, It is basically the same as the Motion Pro tool.

I use a ball joint fork! It may damage the rubber cup, but they are cheap to replace.

you probably cant do this without removing. but, you can remove the nut on the ball joint. install a throw away nut half way on the ball joint. so you can still see half the threads in the nut. screw a bolt of the same size in the other half of the nut. now you can beat on the bolt that you screwed in. I used this method at my job. but I have the bolts and nuts on hand. so its alot faster than dealing with a seperator.

removed the tires and fender, removed the cotter key and nut off the bottom of the tapered shaft, one solid flat blow with a deadblow hammer on the aluminum spindle while holding the upper a-arm in my hand and it dropped right off. nothing to it, I was very surprised, not a scratch on anything.
thanks guys!
