Hey all after we switched tires on my ds650 baja x about 2 months back, we installed a 15 tooth front sprocket for $67.00. Today i was comming down highway and i slowed down to turn off on my road, i hit the throttle and the chain started slipping on the sprocket, my first thought was the chain slipping, i managed to get it home and we checked it out there, the teeth were totally gone and it was only 2 months old, now im running back on my 16 tooth stock one untill another 15 comes in. Anyone else have trouble with 15 tooth sprockets going really fast?

 

That's incredible!!! I've never heard of them wearing that fast....what was the brand, so I can stay away from it!!!

I run the $12 cheapy 15T and 14T from ROcky Mt. ATV, never had an issue. get about 100 hours on them and then the teeth are hooking and I trash them, but never lost a tooth.

 

Never heard of that. I have had no problems with mine. I also run the one from Rocky Mountain Atv.

 

I also run the $12 ones. They run great.. I did have 1 a while back that wore fast but RMATV replaced it for free.

Are you running steel or aluminum? I can see the aluminums fading quickly.

 

I run aluminum rear, from sprocket specialists, amazing durability. and I didn't get the hard anodize option either. I'm very surprised how well its holding up so far. only about 50 horus on it so far, we'll see what the longer term says...

 

I just run steel. I dont care about weight. I just want to make sure I get home off the trails...

 

seems the aluminum rear work fine if the chain isn't to tight.

 

A $67.00 front sprocket? Where'd you get it?

I run a 14 tooth Ron Wood steel sprocket with no probs.
