my guess would be the Z but it depends on the rider and how well the jetting is set-up on both bikes. i wouldnt be surprised if the ex won either it should be fairly close.

My guess is the ex. But the rider could change the outcome.

i bet on the Z400.

the rider ability and jetting make a huge huge difference.

i have seen a z400 that my 400ex took when all i had was a modded air box lid and 1 size larger on the mainjet. this same driver, which is equivalent to me, had his Z stolen. he then quickly got a kfx. he went to a sprocket with 3 teeth smaller in the rear sprocket. this thing just flys for a stock bike. in a drag race from the very start of 1st to 5th gear, it takes a 400ex with a higher compression piston and cam in order to beat it. why the huge difference?? i have no idea. they were the same bike, there was the same driver. his kfx with the taller gearing was much much quicker.
