Default Speedo Gone Crazy

I'm hoping for some help before my baby has to make it's first run to the dreaded dealer.

We were playing in A LOT of water this weekend and the weirdest thing happened. After getting out of the water i would usually notice three things

1. Look down and the speedo wasn't counting
2. Couldn't engage 4x4 / engine brake didn't work
3. Couldn't here the engine brake reset/whir like normal after shutting the bike down

After this we kept on riding for like half an hour and then it started working again - but the problem reoccurred three or four times in a two day period. I'm thinking I may have something shorting out but I have no idea where to start - other than above the bike ran great.

I do have a nabor module in the system and thought that may be the culprit as it has to do with the speed sensor - I had used crimp connectors that came with to attach but have since resoldered and sealed everything tighter than a pickle jar and the problem still occurs.

Ideas?

ADAM : )

For your 1 and 2 issues, check the connection at the speed sensor pickup. It is on the engine case, about at the heel of your right foot. For your 2 and 3 issues, check the controller fuse under the seat.

Checked the fuse and that was alright - the first time it was wet and I blew it out but even that was not an immediate fix (still took the ten or fifteen minute drive to clear it up...

Also looked at the connector (spped sensor) and it seemed fine (although i'm sure it was wet - it was under water) can I put dialectric grease on the fuses and in that plug with no negative effects?

Yes you can use dialectric grease on all your electical connections,I've done allmost all of them, it is cheap insurance.
