Finally got to test my 22" tires in a XC race on Sunday
#1
Yesterday was my first XC race since installing 22" tires on my P650. I have to say that I LOVED the 22's yesterday! With the lower center of gravity, it felt much more stable in the corners. With my 25" bearclaw tires, I used to have trouble keeping up in the tight turns with one particular young guy on a Polaris 500 H.O. Scrambler 4x4 (which comes stock with 22" rear and 23" front tires)...but this time with the 22" tires mounted on my quad, I was able to stay on his tail easily for 4 or 5 miles in the tight/twisty trails thru the woods before I finally got to a wide open area and then I passed him.
I will definitely run these 22" tires again and just stick to my 25" bearclaw tires for wet/muddy XC races or other races with lots of deep ruts/big rocks to climb over. Now if I could just get my 2wd/4wd engagement to work properly, I will be really happy with my quad!
PS - The only downsides of the 22" tires that I noticed is that they offer less cushion over the bumpy stuff and the lower ground clearance of my quad resulted in scraping over rocks/stumps more often. But these disadvantages are ok with me b/c of the better handling it offers.

Thanx for the kind words rivermud. Yes, it feels stronger than ever right now. Once I get the "stealer" to repair my problem with the 2wd/4wd, I will be one happy guy!
FYI: My next XC race will be Oct. 24th, so I should have it ready to go by then. The Oct. 24th race will have LOTS of open fields where I can really test the performance of my motor with the V-force cams that I just installed a few weeks ago. Yesterday's race was way too technical/too slow to really open up the motor to the mid/top-end where the v-force cams are at their best. I'll report back after the Oct 24th race and let everyone know how the V-force cams performed in that race.
