hi everybody. im looking to buy a new quad in Mid November. im looking to ride it on trails, on the road, in the grass lol, threw some tall grass and through some mud and maybe a little creek. id be riding with a sportsman 600 twin the quads i was thinkin bout were:
-2005/2004 Polaris Scrambler 500 4X4-but could this go through mud and stuff?
-2005 Suzuki Vinson 500 4X4 manual
-2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 4X4
-2004 Honda Foreman S
-but im alittle worried about the low ground clearance of the scramble (5.7") and the foreman S (7.7") but do you think that that really matters too much or not?
---if you could please tell me the pros and cons of each or any life experiances of u or friends with one of these quads i would greatly appreciate it.thanks

You bet the scrambler will go through mud! I have a few pictures of it in my gallery. In fact, I betcha the scrambler will outmud all those machines (with the TRUE 4wd) with the exception of the 05 kodiack (I believe it got IRS and a locker this year). But, the scrambler is a lot more sportier feeling than the others and faster too.

Scrambler is a very capable trailbike.

oh yes the scrambler is a great bike... i owned 2 of the ATV's on your list, kodiak and currenty a scrammy, and my friend has a foreman ES, so its a lil diff but same idea. if you want to toast the sportsmans in speed, the scrammy will do so, woods or open area it wins hands down. if u want a extreme offroader look at the kodiak (still beats a sportsman in tighter trails). and the foreman is just a strong, reliable, well built workhorse.

yea mine too im leaning toward the kodiak because of the whole IRS, locking 4wd and all wheel engine braking but idk if it loses any power to the vinny and if so how much?

Remember that Honda has a new 2005 Foreman model coming out. It is considered a 500 with 475cc's.
It will also have disc brakes in the front. It will be priced back where the Foreman 450's were a couple years ago. Just something to think about.
I like the Kodiak 450 and what it has to offer. Locking diff. and IRS are very popular these days. I would rather have a foot shift. But that's me.
I also like the Vinson in a foot shift. It held it's own in a shootout against larger models. It's darn big though. I like something that has a lower height. Downed trees and low branches.
The 2004 Foreman 450 is a very reliable popular machine. Maybe you could get a deal that would blow the other quads out of the water. Considering that this will be it's last year.
Buy what YOU like and can afford.

Yeah it'll go through mud!! Here we have really sticky gumbo-My brothers have sportsmans I let them go through first then when they get stuck because they are too heavy-I fly by and splash them!! It rides nice, the 2004 have the 500 H.O.'s! Allwheel drive you can throw roosts with the front tires!!! Fast too!
