Default iam needing help on buying a polaris.

Its a 1999 i dont know the model name but looks like a sports model. This gonna be my first quad its an automatic 250cc polaris. the dude is asking 1,500 he said the only problem with it is something minor with the carbuerator he says either it needs a throttle adjust ment or somthing like that he thinks maybe not enough gas is getting in so it bogs down or theres too much gas being dumped in. But it runs he let me ride it i loved it. But iam 16 years old and on my own so i dont want to get ripped so iam being very hesitant. i found out its a trail boss and also that he just put 300 dollar tune up and he showed me the receipt. also the problem he said he found out was its the gas filter or somthing does that make sense??? another question i want ask are polaris quads reliable and is this a good buy.

It could be too much fuel, or it could be bad compression. Too much fuel is easy to fix. Bad compression means the top end needs to be rebuilt. It's not that tough to do, but may not be something you're willing to do. See if you can get a compression tester to test it. A few auto parts store will let you borrow one. Look for it to be about 120lbs minimum..

I believe that is to much for a 1999 250. I dont care if it is in excellent condition. I would lay off on this one and look for something a bit newer for that price. null
