depends on what our lookin to do. I had a ozark and it was nice for the mud and crashing through the brush in the woods, but you easily hit its limits if you ride trails aggresivly. you stay dry on the ozark and you get wet on the 400ex. I got a 400ex last winter and i dont think i could go back now. it sure would be nice to have both though, one for hunting and one for trail riding. The suspension is 100 times better on the 400ex and you dont get beaten up from all the bumps and its nice to have the extra power. i would suggest getting the ex if you plan on riding trails at a fast rate or want to hit any type of a jump because the ozarks suspension bottoms out rather easily. use your 200 for the mud and hunting and get a used 400ex. Also check out EXriders.com, they have a ton of info on the hondas.

These two machines aren't even in the same class. The EX is the bottom-of-the-line chain drive performance machine with a fully manual (hand) clutch, and the Ozark is an entry level shaft drive utility with an autoclutch. My motto is to never ride a utility anywhere I can ride a sport bike! I would only pick the ute if you need the extra ground clearance, rack space, and ride a lot in the wet/mud.

The 400 is an EXCELLENT trail bike!

well the trail is just plain old dirt/grass trail with little mud puddles (5in at the most-and a little creek 5in at the most too) so do you think the 400ex could handle this or should i get the ozark?

for the kind of riding you say you'll do, whatever one you can get cheaper is the one i'd suggest

make sure the quad has reverse.no reverse is terrible.if you get stuck you have no option of backing out.my friend has a 400 ex and everytime he gets stuck.he gets mad because he has to get off the bike and lift it to turn it around .or when he is stuck in the mud.he has to step in the mud to pull his bike back.i cant see anyone liking a bike without reverse.i think its mandatory.go for the z400 its faster and has reverse

Give some thought to what other riding you might want to do. For many of us, we start out thinking we will ride locally and find the real fun is somewhere we trailer to - sometimes with a group. I quess Im saying you should look ahead some and see if one bike or another will meet any future needs over the next 4-5 years - as best you can quess.

I have a friend who came home with a brand new sport bike... And the next year he took up deer hunting and would have liked the rackage and 4x that the utility machines have.
