DS 650 vs DS 650 BAJA
#1
Hey guys, need some quick help with my bike selection. I am off to the dealer in 3 hrs to pick up my new DS, but am having a problem chosing which one. The OTD prices are as follows: DS $6500, DS BAJA $7100. Is there really any reason to spend the extra $ on the BAJA. Other than the extra parts that they put on the bike is there any differences in the bike? I couldn't be more stoked to pick up my bike, but I don't want to make the wrong choice. It has taken me a "LONG" time to save for the bike and it will be a long time till I can afford another one.
I really appreciate you guys helping out with the questions that I have asked so far. Its nice to find a site where everyone is out to help more than blow smoke up your a$s.

If those prices are firm then I wouldnt even hesitate to get the BAJA.
Hell just try to buy aftermarket reinforcing rings and find somebody to weld them in for ya on a regular DS and then try to buy and install an extra set of lights on a regular DS by the time you do all that Itll probably cost you more than if you spent the extra 600 to get the Baja.
I almost forgot .. the Baja has the shock covers and a much better front bumper.
I say go for it ... get the Baja!!
Beat them up on the price and try to get them under 7000.00 .... If they dont then try to get them to throw in a nice helmet or pair of boots !!
have fun !!

For $600 it is a good deal considering what you get. For me it was not a tough decision.
-Nerfs
-Handguards
-High pressure front gas shocks
-Front bumper
-Full skids
-Tach
-Auxilary headlights
-Reinforced Baja rims

You can def get them down on those prices. I got mine in 2002 when they first came out and only paid $6800, and i didnt haveta deal em down at all, 6800 listed, i was surprised since then they were retailed for $7400.

Thanks for the input guys we are just getting back from our first ride. I ended up buying the 05 viper for $5700 OTD, and my girlfriend ended up buying a new 05 Z400 for $5400 OTD. We got to the dealership at 1700 hrs and didn't get out of there until almost 1930 hrs. So we went to a nice easy riding trail because my girlfriend has never rode a clutch, and man can I say how proud I am of her. Yes she stalled the bike alot but she never gave up in complete darkness. She even attempted riding up a big hill. Yes she stalled it and I had to take it up the hill, but she attempted it. I was really surprised at what a kick a$s bike that Z is, it was a blast. And let me tell you I absulutely love my DS. I could not have asked for a better bike. We are still taking it very easy on both bikes, but I can just tell how much power they both have.
Thank you guys for steering me in the right direction with my purchase.
