What oil do you recommend? I have 10-40 in now and wonder after break-in if I should change to 5-30? whats your thoughts btwn 5 and 10 weight oil? I heard that 5-30 is better for lubracation and better for parts? The temp chart is about the same, the 5-30 for cooler weather & 10-40 for hotter weather. The climate that I will be riding in falls btwn both oil temps. Does one lubracate better than the other? Thanks!!

 

I use Amsoil's 0w-40 synthetic. Good all year round, hot or cold. AC also has a 0w-40 synthetic.

I would only use 5w-30 if you regularly ride in very cold temps.

If your 500 is a manual, make sure whatever oil you use is wet clutch compatible.

The Arctic Cat 400 and 500 auto's have a wet clutch as well.

 

Amsoil 0W-40 four stroke is the way to go.

 

I use Arctic Cats 0w-40 All season Synthetic and it seems to work great.........
