My buddy was watching an ATV ratings show last week where he saw a rating for Vinson to be about a point higher than the Kodiak. I think he said the Vinson rated about 9.5 and the Kodiak 8.5. He didn't specifically say it was Vinson, only that it was the Suzuki in the 500 class, and that is the only one of their models in that class. Any comments on this? That was shocking to me. I am awaiting my '05 Kodiak 450, and will be getting it for about $5,600.

 

well, the vinson is a nice machine, but not having a locker is a big deal to me. i'm glad with the choice i made, ratings or not.

 

A locker? Pardon my ignorance, but what are you referring to? I'm new to the world of ATV's.

ive rode the vinson and ive rode the kodiak i liked the kodiak much more it seemed more responsive to me but both are verry comfortable quads

 

the kodiak has 2wd,4wd and 4wd differential lock, wich means that instead of standard 4wd were only 3 wheels are spinning, this locks the 2front wheels, so all 4 tires spin at the same rate.... its mud and snows worst nightmare...... that alone will top the vison. besides, the 05 looks so much cooler, just be carefull on those turns with the indy rear suspention.

 

you can take the vinson out of 4 wheel drive and into 2 wheel drive...

 

exactly what roscoe said. doesn't matter how big or fast the machine is, if only 3 wheels are spinning you are limited.

 

Thanks for the information! I am awaiting the call that my Kodiak is in. It definately looks nicer, and I value the indy rear suspension and additional clearance..
