Depends. If you want the best performance quad out there, get the yfz. If you want the 2nd place best performance quad, get the trx. It also depends on what kind of riding you do though. I have ridden several different trx's with different mods doen to them. Wasnt really impressed. There is no way that I would give up the yfz. You can make the yfz quit a bit lighter than the trx really easy too. Remember, the trx is 350 with kick start. Yfz is 350lbs with elec start. You ditch elec start, and you can save upwards of 15 lbs.
I was in the same boat, and want the best performing quad out there. IF the trx was it, it would be in my garage. Not really brand loyal, I like both brands. Its just that yamaha definately has quit the edge over honda at this point in the high performance quad market!
YOu cant go wrong with the trx, seems like a decent enough quad, just be prepared to get thrashed by the yfz, inless your an extremely good rider that can make up for the lack of performance in the trx

I gotta tell you, that inless you are doing FAST trail riding, the yfz will beat the living **** out of you, due to the way the suspension is setup, for mx. THe 05's are a little more gentle, and as far as the 05 yfz vs trx suspension for trail, not sure, never did that.
When you ride a trx and a yfz you will definately tlel the difference, I did, and it was night and day, both stock vs stock, and mod vs mod.

YFZ YFZ YFZ YFZ............In my honest, unbiast opinion. Like I said, if the trx was what it was suppose to be "cracked up to be" I would have gone with it. However the yfz still is the better choice right now.......
