All I know is that for most quads you have to change the springs, I'm not sure about the rocker, I bet you could find all of this info on their website.

The stage one is more for lowend and the stage 2 is for wide open. I am considering a hot cam2in my 450r.

The stage II should only be used on the 400 EX if the engine has been bored out or if it is set up for MX or long endurance races. Both hotcams stage I and stage II cams use the stock rockers and cams. It is a "drop in cam" meaning that stock parts may be used.

Go to http://www.sledsales.com and then click on their ebay store. From there you can buy either a stage I or II brand new cam from hotcams for $110. It tells that stage I is good for the an EX bored out to no more than 426cc. It also tells that the stage II should be used for desert or motocross applications on EX bored out to 440cc.

I had a Hotcam Stage II in my 416 EX. I had it ported and polished while it was apart. The Hotcams are drop in cams, as stated above. On the advice of the mechanic doing my motor work, I went ahead and had heavy duty springs and new valve seals installed. The cost was minimal for these parts.
I didn't like the Stage II for woods riding. With the Stage II cam, you have to keep the motor revved pretty high, or it will start bogging out big time. The one thing I liked about the 400EX when it was stock, was that you could lug a gear down pretty low, then hit the throttle with no ill affects. That doesn't happen with the Stage II.
