whats a good tire

my 03 400 4x4 auto with IRS is gonna need new tires soon. the stock dunlops are wearing out and ive been lookin around. I just wanted to hear some feedback from u guys who have replaced their tires already. im lookin for tires that are gonna have good handling because 75 percent of my riding is trails, and i mean fast trails with some tight turns. but i also need good traction because i also like to hit the mud once in a while and when i do its serious, i once got stuck past the tops of the tires in a marsh with no trees to winch out, had to pick up the machine and put it on good ground. another thing is wearing i dont want to be replacing tires that often either. Ive heard good things bout the mudlites, will they be good in my conditions? they look similar in tread design to the dirt devils, any recommendations?

i would seriously consider the mud lites maybe in a stock size 25 inch so you will have a lil more aggressive tires and you won't lose any power cause if you go bigger on a 400 you will notice a big power drop and you will burn gas fast for that motor will be working hard

A bunch of us have Mud Lites around here. Last summer they were selling them for about half price.
I have not heard anybody complain about them either. I put a hole in a back tire that was too big for a plug. A tube was $25Can and a new Mud Lite cost $65Can, so I bought a new one.
Other than that, I have had no problems. Love the grip of them and they are smooth on hard pack.

just put 100 miles on my mudlites this weekend. rode in every king of terrain: sand, dirt, mud, gravel, and pavement. handled awesome, love them. takes a little to get used to the cornering but by adjusting the suspension you can get it to corner pretty good. all though with 25's they should corner like stockers.

i had the mud lites before but in tight twisty turns they seem to roll under the front wheels other than that there a nice tire i switched to titan 589 m/t there 6 ply have aggresive lugs and also they have a bead saver which protects your rims there real cheap at nebraska tire like 50 each for blems but ive had no problems at all

i heard the 589's are a harsh ride, my dealer says he uses the vampire by super swamper any info on those?, but like i said i want mostly a trail tire that is good in mud too. the vampire look like they are stricly a mud/snow tire

the 589's aren't that bad of a ride if you drive slow of corse you will feel the lugs but if you get up above 10 mph you can't even feel them mine actually made my machine more forgiving in rough terrain and well from what i gather what you need tires for vampires would be a lil overkill for vampires are one of the most aggressive mud tires on the market along with the mudzilla's and well i can't think of the other ones right off the top of my head maybe someone else can fill in that blank

well ill tell you i put the titan 589s on my machine but before doing so i looked at edls 50lbs ea then itp 589 which is the same as titan except they have a rim saver built into them then outlaws, bear claws, gators etc the 589 series tire ride alot better than the ones i mentioned i also rode a 650 with mud lites which road real nice but when it came to twisty trails i noticed the side walls were flexing alot making it feel unstable which felt like the stock goodyear mtr radials i know the 589s made my machine feel more stable and more predictable and the second thing to consider is the weight of the tires the 589s 28in weigh 31lbs mounted verses vampires 50lbs unmounted just remember that rotational weight will cause stress on axles along with belt life when mud boggin but this is only an opinion

I run 26" Dirt Devil XT's on my 500 and I love them.
Great smooth ride at all speeds. They handle just like my stock radials and they are real stable at high speeds.
I run them with about 7 psi and there is little to no sidewall flex on corners.
They bite great on soft and hard pack surfaces. Actually they get such good traction that a lot of my burn outs and sideways fun is out the window.
They work very good in mud but they are not a true mud tire. They do however have great backwards traction in mud if you need to back out.
They dig a little too much for sand and seem to get you dug in if you are not careful.
I am told they go great in snow as well but I have not tried them.
These tires are very heavy duty and have went threw @#$%& and never had a flat, they also wear like iron so they will be hard to wear out.
They are a GREAT all around tire and I highly recommend them.
