honda was the target of the majority of the lawsuits back then. many cases involved the 250R as being an "evil" machine. I remember when some people were actually scared of them! one of my honda dealers told me that it was hard to move a 250R back then- thanks to public fear shows like 20/20.

honda decided to pull the plug on it after the 1989 model year; too bad b/c it set the standard (that in my book still stands today) and was strongly rumored and expected that they were gearing up to release a two stroke TRX500R.

 

the one thing i hate....is all these greedy *** people can sue just about anyone for just about anything and get just about any amount of money they want

 

i just dont get it.... a guy decides to do a wheelie, he gets it up and next thing u know he hits a stone causing him to crash and (say break his leg). he gets home from the hosptile and some dumb friend say hey you should sue honda saying the 250r had 2much power and caused you to flip.. being a greedy sob he goes for it wins then everyone else is like HEY! i can go hurt myself and sue honda................

stupid people man... what i would give for there still to be 250r's being sold. i guess i can blame all of my elder generations =P

 

The problem was you had these jack *** parents that were buying them for the 11 year old sons/daughters. They believed that because they were on four wheels, they were less dangerous than bikes. Well they are not. They are more dangerous and when little Bobby and Sally started whacking their 250Rs into trees and flipping them and dying. Their A$$hole parents started suiing. It is like the parents that are suiing Remington and Winchester because some nutcase kid gets ahold of a gun and unloads it in the playground at the bullys that were picking on them. Well guns don't kill people. Bullets do. And it is everybodies fault EXCEPT the nutcase kid who stold and unloaded the gun, the a$$hole parent for raising a nut job, the school who should have recognized little Bobby was sick cause he always wore black and talked about killing everyone and the little evil bastard kids for picking on the sick bastard.

Yeah, that sucks not seeing em around anymore. I guess most people thought "it's only a 250, how fast could it be"
So they go out and drive stupidly on a lil ole 250 and hit a tree at 70mph....real smart. I agree with the other guy said above,
people asume it's safe because it had 4 wheels and was only a 250cc bike. In a way I am glad they stopped making em...it only
added to the legend of the 250R. I WOULD have liked to see one more year of the 250R recently however. Not a whole lot of
changes...maybe kept the 89 chassis, same 246cc motor but with a little better stock suspension, 36mm pwk a/s carb instead of the 34
and a little better stock exhaust....and black plastic that is race cut.
