Start in 2nd gear or get an extended swingarm

Lean more forward, and it shouldn't be crucial that much, I've catwalked into third in a race and still won. Then again it was a Z400.. :S

Practice practice practice. Lean forward, learn to feather the clutch better, and control your throttle application. Some riders are born, the rest have to learn.

Oh yeah, air up your tires and they will spin more. If you are on pavement, you arent going to get very far with a stock length swingarm. You can get a 4.5 inch swingarm extension for about 250 bucks I believe, much cheaper than a new swingarm and easier to install.

practice is the only cheap advise. lean forward, not too much gas and feather that clutch til u get going, even with the rap in a drag, if once u get going, and u punch it it will still fly up on you, u need to learn and practice to be smooth but quick at the same time, try 2nd gera starts also

just put a bigger sprocket on the front like one tooth bigger than stock and you will start better and gain top end on the long drags

i would change the sprockets, their the cheapest. but it kinda destroys the point of gearing down to start ing second? why do you want to start in second anyway. get some motor work done so you have the power to start in second, or get a swingarm, or else you burn up your clutch.

Put a 14 tooth front sprocket on and start in second, you can get a sprocket for $15 on ebay
