Sounds like a bad battery, if it started right up with a jump, the starter, relay and switch should be fine, restarting it 10 min later, you had a warm engine and a battery that was getting charged by the stator, after it sat a while, the battery went to heck in a hurry, probably got a bad cell or shorted plate that drains it real fast. I had a Recon that was running / starting fine, then one day out of nowhere, dead, charged it, started fine, but would die after half a day sitting. Put in a new battery, never gave us a problem again.

Yesterday my outlander 400 wouldnt start either, just out of nowhere, I rode it for a few mintues, let it sit because i was going to fix the wench on it, then i went to start and it didnt, just whined and seemed like it wasnt getting enough power from battery. Havent looked at it today yet.

Ive had the same EXACT problem. 1 Voltage regulator replaced under waranty, and now a New Battery.
Do yourself a favor, get a Battery Tender. It keeps the battery fully charged, without burning it out. I actuallly bought two of them. No problems starting now.

Ive got two. The Junior plus, and a Waterproof. They work great. And you can hook up a special cable, so once your done riding, just a quick plug-in and your on charge.
