the back section was awesome, the whole course was a blast. unfortunately i injured myself towards the beginning of the second lap and was out for the day. i'm hopin to be back riding agian in a week or so. how was the track by the team race? the ruts musta been krazy.

ya the ruts were a little bad, but it was the drop offs that were the problem. The edges of the track in some places was getting narrower with each lap that went by. Our first rider landed on top of a rider who nosed dived it off a drop off in the back section. - we had problems with the bike the whole rest of the race. He hurt his back and wasn't able to ride the rest of the race, but he is doing o.k. The other guy a quess broke his jaw from what I heard.
What happened to you - what were you riding?
We were on a raptor

i knocked 4 of my teeth out on the second lap. 1 of them i spit out in the sand, the others were saved by some reconsstructive surgery at the hospital later that day. i had big gnarly gash across my chin, and went clear thru my lip. i was on a 450r with the mods in my sig. i had a wire holding in my bottom teeth (the top ones were un affected), about 30 stitches in my mouth and 20 for the gash. i've had all the stitches and the wire removed, but i have a bump in my chin that's gonna need cosmetic surgery to fix, and today i had 4 root canals done. i go to the dentist in about a week to finish up repairing the teeth. then i wait about 3-4 more weeks til i can eat normal again, and in february i go back to see if i'm getttin a fake tooth and to see how they're gonna fix my chin. from what i've been told by a few of the people that put on the race that the only other injurys were a cut chin and the normal aches and pains n bruises.

Ouch! I sure feel for you - I know that day we heard that there was a crash in the back and it included several quads. Our first rider said that when he was coming around he hit a jump and there was some one down to the side of the track and the guys quad was on the track. He said he tried to miss it but he ended up hitting it. I think it was the other guy you mentioned that cut his chin. Because our rider said he stopped and talked to the guy to see if he was o.k. then he help pulled his bike off the track.
In what race did you ride? Did this scare you off or are you going to race again.
I remember last Feb. I crashed on a down hill in Hollister. A pro kicked a hay-bale out onto the track. I was running the beginner/intermediate class. We were running right behind the pros - I came over the jump first and landed on the bale. There was a sharp left turn after the jump. I couldn't control my quad and flew over a 12 foot burm. Everyone that saw it said it was awsome to see. Unfortunatly no one got pictures. They said I supermaned over the burm before I jumped. The quad did two roll overs and landed next to me. The nerf bars hit my leg. I broke my left wrist and tore 5 inches of skin off the muscle of my leg. I left the track by ambulance. They had to put a drain in my leg and I couldn't get around for weeks. I couldn't even use a crutch because of my broken wrist. lol
My bike broke its frame and a tore up a bunch of other stuff to on it.
But I guess I'm either stupid of just crazy - I love this sport and I'm still racing.
Hope you heal soon -

there's no way in hell im gonna stop riding. lol, i'm addicted for life. i raced the 4 stroke C class, and was the first group to go after the pros, i was first off the line too. i'm definately gonna race again, but i'll probably be a lil bit smarter about it. most likely it will be a desert or an endurance race since i've never been able to get on an mx track before. i'm actually supposed to be in hollister this weekend, but can't ride cuz the teeth are too fragile. i wasn't involved in any of the crashes that u described, and i'm glad to hear that u healed up fine from ur crash, sounds like it musta been nuts to see.
i'm in the process of building a racer, i have hiper-tech beadlocks comin monday and i'm hopin that i'll get an exhaust for my b-day in a month. it'll probably take me at least a year or so to finish the bike since i don't have a job (school takes too much time). do u know of ne mx tracks in southern cali that are open to the public? i checked out the track with the hill nicknamed "mt. saint helens" (i can't remember the name right now) and they have scheduled practice times, and i'm worried that on a track of that caliber there will be so many experienced riders that i won't be able to jus cruise and get used to a mx track. ne suggestions?

I as going to ride at Hollister this weekend too. It is the first race of the winter series of Mutant. I'm not going to do it because my frame in being powder coated. It won't be ready on time. I know what you mean about not having a job and going to school- It took me almost 5 months before my bike was somewaht ready after the crash and I just decided to add a better gusset and powder coating.
Just take your time healing thats the important thing - I noticed that when I went back it took me awhile to get back into shape. Endurance wise. Also just ride as much as you can on different tracks- the more track types you ride on the better rider you will become. When I started I rode on the tracks and praticed along with the semi pros- it was the best thing for me. Just remember to yeild to them and let them pass on by- it a respectful thing to do and they appreciate it. I noticed that when I gave them their room they started to come to me and help me out in the pits area. Now I have some calling me and we ride together- There is a lot of good guys out there that will help out - We all have to kind of stick to together to keep this sport going.
I plan on hitting more of the so cal races this next year- I from Central Cal area - I really don't know about the local tracks done there. I now that Hanford hold a TT races - but I'm not into that. I tried it once and didn't like it. I like air time, and whoops -
Predator 500 -Lonestar axle, Eyeball a-arms, PEP steering stablizer, TCS shocks, ITP bead-locks, other MX aftermarket parts.
Sis - Cannondale Speed w/ stage 8 kit, Eyeball A-arms, Galfer brakes, Houser steering, PEP ZPS and Ohlins shocks

awesome, thanx for the tips. hopefully i'll be able to go out and ride some trails next weekend, although i really wanna get out to the desert. those bikes must be awesome to ride. other than wheelies, whoops are my fav. thing to ride. i especially like goin to pismo after a super busy weekend, or after a month or 2 without much wind and jus riding as fast and as long as i can through the never ending whoop sections.
i've been doin a lot of research since i got hurt (playstation gets old after 4 or 5 hours) and i've been lookin into the dif. mods and tricks to gettin a bike set up nice for racing. how much wider is your bike? and how do u like the PEP stabilizer? i know the baja team that won on the 450r went through like 3 steering stabilizers due to the 450r's twitchiness at high speeds, so i want somethin reliable.
where did you send ur frame for powdercoat? i have family in bakersfield and my girl lives in porterville, so i'm always goin up to central cali. sorry for the onslaught of questions, i'm jus stoked on gettin my bike back together and modding it in the process.
