Sportsman 500 H.O. weird starting problem
#1
I am looking for ideas on this. Saturday morning I went out to start up the Sportsman to load it on the trailer. It barely started to turn over then would just make clicking sound at the starter. I put the charger on it and jumped it. It fired right up. I then just left the charger on it while I went shopping. After that couple of hours it started up fine. I loaded it up and weht out to ride. When I got to our riding spot, it was dead again. It pull started and ran fine. Everyhting else electrical seams to be fine also (AWD, lights, gauges, etc.). It would do this off and on all day. Sometimes start and sometimes clicking. Then all day Sunday it started just fine. What do you think this could be? Could the battery have been that low or do you think the solenoid is going? It is still under warranty. I may just let the dealer figure it out.

I was thinking the battery also. I just don't know what to think about how it went dead. I don't know where to start looking for a short. Everything seems to be running O.K. I am going to try to start it up when I get home. Hopefully it will fire up.
