Default Where's the best prices/ what to buy, on oil, fuel, rims, and body for 400ex

Hey,
I have had a 400ex for about 1 week now. I love it to death already. But i would like to make it look super nice. I have already baught some paint to touch up the frame. I know this is probally a dumb question, but do i just use regular gas from the gas station? What kind of oil do i put in it, and how much, and how often. Where can i get good looking rims? Also, as far as the body. my atv is red. I would like it yellow. hwere is the cheapest place to get all the plastic, those black things on the side even, and the factory decals/warning labels? If someone knew this information on all of this, it would be great. thanks for all you who hvae helped me some already!!

O YEAH BY THE WAY, i read some forums,a nd that putting you're knee on the seat, and one on the wheelie bar helps. It got me learning how far to go up. now i can almost do it w/o doing that. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You should use regular gasoline (atleast 87 octane rating). Regular gas is fine unless you have engine modifications such as a big bore kit with a different carburator and stage 2 cam. As for the oil I use Valvoline 10W 40 in mine (1 and 7/8 of a quart). This oil works fine although some people feel that you need to use the Honda brand ($5 a quart). You should change your oil every 20 hours or so that you put on your quad. Some people change the oil filter every other oil change but I would change it every time. As for the rest of the stuff I would look on ebay. You should fine almost everything that you need there. I wouldn't spend my money on the warning labels if I were you. It just seems like a waste of money.

You can go to a local Honda dealer, if you have one, and buy one there. If not, I would get on ebay. I always see oil filters on there for $3 apiece compared to the $6-8 that you will spend at a dealer. Go with Valvoline, Castrol, Mobil, or Kendall. Stay away from Pennzoil, Quaker-State, and others that are wax-based because they will leave a waxy residue in your engine and possibly mess up the clutch. Some people would say that you shouldn't use automobie oils in an ATV, these are the same people that spend $5 a quart for the Honda brand. You need an SF/SG rating of oil in your ATV. This can be found on the back of the oil container in the store. I have always used Valvoline and have never had a problem... going on 5 years.

I get all my stuff from rockymountainmc.com or get there catalog. They have really good prices and usually everything is in stock.

I too have heard that rockymountain is a good place to buy plastic, but I am not sure if they have stock plastic. I believe that I remember someone saying that they do though. I have also heard that stock plastic is cheaper than aftermartket brands, such as Maier, and they are stronger and more durable than aftermarket plastics as well.

Oh one more thing. I do not believe that you will be able to use the stock black side panels if you purchase aftermarket plastics. They might fit if you cut them but since you are wanting to go with new I don't think that you would want to go this route.
