Default Looking for longetivity in a New ATV

I currenty have a Honda 300 fourtrax 4X4. I purchased it new in 96 and am things about getting a new one that's a little more powerful and larger. I love my fourtrax and havn't had any problems with it. I've met pople through the year with just about every other 4-wheeler made. I know that as time progresses companies change and improve. What I would hope to do is get a new one that will last just as long as my fourtrax with no problems, yet a bit larger and more powerful. My question to the experts is simply this. What manufacture and model your you recommend. I use mine for hunting and am very tuff on it. 4X4 is a must. thanks

From Recon to the Rincon Honda continues to lead the pack for reliability. Your checkbook will likely be the deciding factor in choosing a model and there is a pretty good spread. To be honest - our Recon has gone everywhere the much larger quads have gone. If your like me - the mud runs, drags and performance rallys are not what we use our quads for. Hauling gear and recreational riding where walking is difficult is where I find my quad usefull. Find a Honda that fits your size, needs and budget. And don't worry about it.

Sounds to me like you would be a candidate for a Foreman or a Rubicon.

Well, guys I brok down a dn got me a new atv . I got the 04 Rubicon. So far, I love it. I took it ou this weekend and but about 8 mile on it. my only beef it that it's more cold natured than anything I've ever owned. Even witht he choke on it still cuts off until it';s been warmed up pretty good. I'm hope this will change after breakin, if not. it's off to the dealer.

thanks for your feedback.

Let's talk 4x4 here. Honda use to be on top of the ATV world but not any more. They have not changed their machines in so long that every other company has far surpassed them with all kinds of great options. As for reliability goes most of the new brands are about the same. Honda is no better then the rest I'm sorry to say. I use to be a Honda man myself but this is true.

As for getting a new machine here's what I would suggest:

IMO you don't need a big 700cc machine but if you have the money go ahead and get one. I would recommend a machine in the 500cc class. This is what I have and I can tell you I can keep up with any 700cc machine whether it be in the mud or on the mountain. Check out my PICs and if you don't believe me. In the 500cc class the Suzuki Vinson is the best hands down and it's very sporty too so you get the best of both worlds. Now if you have your heart set on an IRS machine I would suggest the Kodiak 450. Either one will make you very happy.

Vinson: Good looks, lots of power, sporty, and awesome price

Good luck with whatever you get but please at least test ride a Vinson
