Default 700 Sportsman oil ?

I have a 03 700 and it calls for 2qts but when I add 2qts when I change oil it it over fills it does anyone else have this problem? Both my friend 700 do the same thing. Should I add both qts or just fill it to the line? I have run it over full since I bought it new and its not hurt it.

2 quarts come in the kit, but it takes something like 1 7/8th quarts to fill. It goes slightly over when you put in 2 quarts, I don't think it will hurt. I've done it before, but probably best to stop just short of putting in the 2 quarts and filling to the line....

I am getting ready to do an oil change on my two 700 EFI's, I bought the mobil 1 synthetic 0w40 oil and I went to autozone and got STP oil filters that were cross-referenced from both an 1156 and 1158 part number I got off the forums. the new oil filters are shorter than the originals but have the same diameter, should I exchange them for a different brand or what? what kind/size filters are you guys using for replacements on your quads? I refuse to pay $13.50 for a pure polaris filter which you know some other company makes anyways.

I have always used polaris oil and polaris filter. I heard once that the polaris oil filters has a check valve and hate to get another brand that didn't. I have 2 toyota trucks I only run toyota oil filters because I know the have a check vavle. Same goes for gm or ford I always use original equipment but thats just me.

All the twins (3 SP 700s and 3 SP 600s) in our group do the same thing at oil change. i have no idea why, but it usually take about 1.75 quarts. I even shake the atv as much as I can with the drain plug out and it doesn't seem to help.

I say play it on the safe side and get the Polaris oil change kit for $20 and dont put it all in, just to the fill line or slightly less.

All oil filters have Anti-Drainback valves. All they are is the rubber flap that you see through the holes in the top of the oil filter. STP filters are made by Champ labs. They are pretty decent filters for the price.
