Default Bearing Carrier Problems.

I have a 01 400EX with Lone Star axle and Lone Star billet locking nut. My stock bearing carrier finally gave out so I bought a new billet double row carrier off eBay. When I went to assemble it, I could not get the nut on far enough to install the snap ring on the axle shaft. I measured an old bearing carrier I had and from outside race to outside race the measurement was 6 3/8", the new one measured 6 1/2". They replaced it with another one, but it still measures the same and I still cannot get the snap ring on. Anyone run into this before? Do you have a billet carrier you can measure and see whats up here? I am at a lose as what to do know, exept replace the bearings and use the old carrier, not really what I want to do.

Default Bearing Carrier Problems.

I ran into this problem on the 300ex. We bought a carrier for it and it was to long, mailed it back and they sent another one. Same problem. I needed about an eighth of an inch. I layed the splined piece on the floor and ground it with a grinder until it fit. I didn't want to do that but it was all I could see. It has been three years or so and there hasn't been any problems.
