Default What do you use to carry extra gas along

Just curious to see what others recommend for hauling extra gas along when riding for extended periods. We are planning a Colorado excursion and I was looking into getting one of those flat gas tanks for the front rack...I'd like to see what other people have to say or what they've used.

Thanks

Can be hard to keep a tall gas can strapped to an ATV thats climbing up mountains. Looking for opinions on the rack mounted systems like the TR Fuel Pak. I did a search and didn't see any comments on them.

How much do you think you need to bring along? I use two 2 1/2 gallon plastic containers, one on each side, and ive never really noticed they were there.

I would say something that provides me an extra tank would be sufficient. You never have any issue with the tanks sloshing around or expanding or anything? I like the idea of the front slim tank to reduce sloshing around and what not.

There are occasions where I'll go pretty far out and would like to make sure I carry at least another tank to get back on.

Hi. In photo #8 and #20 of my photos you can see my set up. It is a Trapper Box...it holds two gas cans securely and has space in the middle for gear. I really like it. In one of the photos it is partially open and you can see the gas cans ( they come with the box ). I paid $110 Canadian which is $90. U.S.

I think that the advantage of the the rack tank was that you can minimize space lost and still use the whole rack for strapping cargo down to.

I have an extra tank on the back rack. Tank is connected into main tank so I can refill the main, just need to turn value on. The brackets that came with the tank would not take the bouncing on the trail. Had to add basket for support, but it also protects the tank and gives me a little extra room. Tank holds 3 gallons. Take a look at some of my pictures.
