I believe a steering wheel puller will do the job

Take off the cover where the recoil start is and I think the starter gear will come out after that. Then you need a puler for the flywheel. I went to AUTOZONE and got a harmonic balancer puller for $10.

Nope, gatta pull it. The ring gear goes on from the 'inside'. I'd get the harmonic balancer puller because the flywheels are on tight if they havent been off before. And lube the puller up good.

Yeah out of the grease gun is fine. Put it on the threads of the puller and where the puller contacts the crankshaft.

when i did mine i had a fly wheel puller that you used like a vice grip with that just sucked... it wouldnt budge so when i brought it to a dealer he had one that hooked up to an impact and it popped off in like 10 seconds haha.... it made it look easy.
