Default Mudlites and a 04.5 700EFI

I put a set of Mudlites on today. On the factory chrome rims with 26 x 9 x 12 front tires the tire rubs the protective boot on the tie rod end, not much but it rubs all the time. Going to see if I can find a set of spacers to use.
The 26x12x12 on the back fit with no problem.

I've got 27" Mudlites on my '05 700 EFI and they fit with no problem, front and rear, and also have 27" 589s, same way. The '04s are a different story since the suspension is alot different. i would have thought that the 26x9-12's would have worked on the front. Problem is, the tires are not very round, you'll find out when you start going over 40 mph....

The factory Chrome wheels have more backspacing then the aftermarket wheels do. Spacers or new wheels are the only options.

Bullet how much air are you running in the tires? Is the back spacing different on the chrome rims than the steel rims? Why do some guys have no problem with 26x9x12 on the stock rims? I know of one guy who has 26x10x12 on stock steel rims on a Hunter Special EFI who has no rub. If the tire rubs the tie rod boot at all it will wear the rubber boot out and I don't understand why it so inconsistant from bike to bike.....

A picture would be nice thanks. If you got rub at 10lbs spacers are your only options other than new wheels.....

if they are rubbing at 10psi, you surely need to do something about it....I run the recommended 7psi which seems to work well for all around riding....

I just posted a few pics, may take a little while to be updated.
Not rubbing hard, but if you spin the tire it squeels because of the tire and tie rod end rubbing together.

I think the front on mudlites is 10 wide. I had to get the al 1" spacers for mine but used C series rims too.

Hi all!!
I'm the guy that NB was talking about.

I have a 2004.5 "Hunters Special" 700EFI.

It came with Camo rims, and raw hide tires.

When buying the bike the dealer said i would need spacers to put 26"x10" tires on the front.

when dealer changed tires he seen that the spacers were not needed.

I run 7lbs of air in the mudlites.........and I have no rubbing at all............but I
don't rock climb, or do extream riding...........but I ride in all type of trails............good and bad.

And I have the 12" tires on the rear.

MAYBE the camo rim's are diffrent........so that bigger tires could be put on??
I don't know.
