Belt.. Shredded, sepperated put through a grinder...
#1
was out on the dunes today on my 500 scrambler and shredded a belt.. I mean the thing flew apart.. got it out and pulled the cover and I think the belt must have been in about 20 pieces.. but the main cord was still one loop.. just not a very good one...
anyway.. I put on a kevlar belt.. I have read what they say about the wear on the clutch ect. So I might switch over to a different one.. Has anyone actually seen the wear from the kevlar belt?
And my thinking is that since the belt came apart in so many pieces it was pretty shot. (I just got the thing and it was used) is my thinking right?
thanks.

Belts dont normally shred like that, Most likely a defective belt. My belt that came on the machine when I bought it started to come apart like that. I have been using a Dayco Max2 belt all year and love the thing. I have not seen any wear on my clutches either

I was on the gas hard with my old hopped up sport, and shredded a HPD kevlar belt, it came right through the clutch cover and into my leg.......luckily I had on boots. I had to buy a new cover though.

my buddy shredded a belt like you did on his sp 500 he was trying to do a brakestand in high gear and started smoking it, well after he stopped and let it cool down he started the thing and punched it, there went the belt in about 15 pieces... so im thinking that your belt was really hot and coooled down fast

ooo.. I did got through some water right before it went!! maybe that helped it out.. but the water was only up to the bottom of the quad.. belts suppose to run that hot? I know I Can put my hand on the cover and it is warm! if not down right HOT!
