Go for it, last winter, I borrowed my friends yamaha 440 and used it for ice dragging, and those things rip! I took out my friends 500 sled with it, and I was doing 98mph, according to the speedo.

Well, his has some kind of straight tuned pipes, good for round 20 hp i think, hi-comp pistons, special cyl. heads bump compression to round 230 ish, it runs on 110 octane, race carbs, drag porting...i dont know all the exact names, he doesnt talk about it much..basicallly set up for racing, it can be converted back to 93 octane by switching the heads off i beliebe and is then able to ride trails..but it quite rough on gas. Its not the fastest sled in the world, top speed wise, only does about 70 mph, but pulls like a jack bear catwalks no problem from any speed...i gotta stop talking about this before something i dont want to happen, happens

If it's that fast and modded, it would have to be a 75 Mercury TrailTwister, or if you're extremely lucky, the planets aligned, it's 75 SnoTwister. If it's an original of either, you could make tenfold of your investment by selling it.......

To calculate your Elan's speed, you'd have to figure in the general condition of the sled, as well as your weight. I would say if you are of average build, 45-55 mph is not impossible. My MotoSki Mirage is only 377 cc, twin carbs though, and it will pull the skis and goes fast enough to scare me.
