Default Santa is Bringing Me Tires (this is going to be hard)

I know there is gajillion threads on tires, size, MFG etc and I have gone thru them on mutiple occasions and I think by doing that I'm torn even more. I have already prepared for the larger tires by getting the lift and spacers first. I really wanted 28" but my 386cc power plant may not handle it. ITP 589's were my first choice on tire and then was sold on ML's due to lighter and cheaper. My wife will be getting me the tires I want for X-Mas but I have not told her what kind. Here are my issues.

I rarly take it over 3rd gear and I'm a crawler so:

I think 27" 589's will be ok (But I really want 28") (Can I fit on stock rim) (Should I wait to get C-Series Rim) (Lomax has 28" Mudzillas)

27" Mudlites are new lite and cheaper but the look sort of simular to stock tires and they are soft and treads hollowed out (Hrrrm maybe 28") (I wish I could see them on my bike before I buy)

NOW AFTER surfing the net I have seen the Mudzillas that Lomax is running and they look fabulous........... OMG!........ Maybe I should have just stuck with my first choice...

im in the same boat...but im asking my parents for them...right now i want the 25" mug bugs...ive heard they were an awsome tire...im sticking with hte 25 because i still want to be able to pull them good without alot of bogging....ive heard from alot of people to not get a tire too big for the engine to pull...and you'll do much better in the mud pits if you can spin the tires easier...just something to think about...good luck with it...if you havent searched the forums for tire threads id suggest doing that also

I too am looking into the larger tires. I have a 2004 polaris 700 EFI and am wanting the 27" mudlites on ITP type 6 wheels. the problem with the polaris quads is the backspacing when going to a larger tire. the tires will hit the rear tie rods and may rub. so it is almost a must to go with after market rims and even the spring spacers. I am still torn on which size and tire to go with but I know I am not going to waste my cash on the mudzilla's, they are a cool looking tire but god the cost is just not reasonable plus they wouldn't be good for climbing and stuff. just good for mud. I am either thinking the mudlites, 589's or the kenda bearclaws.

by the way you can go to discount tire and they can order the tires at a reasonable price and beat competitors also. you may be able to order them and have them put on your quad then decide.

BigBear03 whats your e-mail address and I will send you a picture of my bike with the 28's on it. They will fit and as long as you are in 1st gear in the nasty stuff, it will pull espessially a mudlite. they weigh in at 13 pounds lighter ( each ) than my tires plus they are less aggressive so they will not put near the strain mine do.

Lomax:

My address is: zbond2001@yahoo.com

Check this out I went by the Yamaha dealer where I purchased my bear from. They had a ton of yami's with 27" 589's and I wanted to just check there price. They had a new 05 Kodiak with 27" 589's w/Black Cseries wheel. The fit was great as well as the look. There parts guy must have been new. I told the guy I already have spacers and lift to prepare for larger tires. I was lectured for 10 minutes how the lift will tear my axle out. I told the guy that what 3year YES warranties are for. I think they black listed me for service now. I wonder if I can get my money back on that warranty??? LOL/// I know anything is possible but I rarly take my bear over 3rd gear and never "RAG" on it.

They wanted $20.00 plus dollars more per tire and wanted $25.00 per tire to mount. They just lost all my business and i will continue to support my local mod shop even though they mainly are a polaris guys.

Thanks for the discount tire option i will check into it.

Lomax: Those tires LOOK HUGE!!!!! Thats crazy.... How the hell do you steer with that fat monsters on the front? Are those on stock wheels? That ride looked like you all had some fun... I wish people did that kinda of stuff where I live... There is nothing better than beautiful women on monster quads! Wellllll maybe add naked with guns and it would be better!

If you have a digital camera email me some pics close up of your bear I may have to go with Monsters.

They are on highlifter "lite" wheels. Its not really that much harder to steer than it was stock, only the center of that tire is touching the ground most of the time so it works out well but the ride is not all that great. I have some pictures already taken of it ( that i keep meaning to post on here ) that are at the house, I will try to get them and bring them up here tommorow. On thanksgiving weekend we are going to a place called sicily Island in Louisiana, you ought to try and make it up, there will be other people from here going as well, one that doesnt live to far from you ( SanteFe ). To run 27's or ( particually ) 28's you have to modify your mudflaps, but I have a fix for that than I have a picture of the mod as well that I will send you.
