Default big jetting

I have heard of some people puttin as big as 170 main jets in there 400ex's after some mods. My question is, wouldnt this suck up the gas pretty fast if they were riding hard?

thanks

Yeah, but not as bad as a ported Banshee. I can ride most of the day at the dunes on my 440ex.

the way i see this is that if your running a 170 your just wasting gas and making your bike slower. a smaller jet will produce much better power. you just dont' want to go too small to run it lean.

i am not saying it won't run fine. he just isn't getting near the power he could be with that large of a jet.
