450r red header

My brother just got a 05 r with the HRC kit. When we first started up the bike after idling for a few minutes the header started glowing red hot. Is this normal for the 450r or could this be a problem,.

no!!!! big problem. your bike is running way lean when idling if it's glowing red hot in just a couple of min. besides, once the bike warms up the fan turns on and blows air over the header which helps to cool it. the HRC kit comes with reccomended jetting, but at your altitude it may not be right. if your header is glowing then there is something wrong, a glowing red pipe could easily start a fire if you crashed into a bush, there's no way that honda would have designed a bike that would do that.
impusle, try re-jetting and once u get it right, the pipe wont glow, and u'll get to the top of sand mt. faster and easier cuz u'll have more power.

ive got the HRC kit and HMF pipe and im running a 190 main jet. it runs cool but at night about 3 inches of the header will glow red, it normal. my friend has a yfz with the GYT-R pipe, jetted right and half of his header will glow red at night.

my header never glows, and i know it's not jetted rich cuz one size smaller on the main jet and its runnin lean. i've run around the dunes with the throttle pinned and then jus let the bike sit and idle, and there's no glowing. none of my bikes ever glow, and neither do my buddy's yfz or his dad's ds650.

well we just bought the bike yesterday and be four we took delivery of it we had the HRC kit instaled in it.When we got home it was dark i started the bike to unload the bike off the truck by the time i pushed and got it roled of the truck the pipe was going so red it looked like to was going to melt.Thanks for the repl i am going to jet it up more to make it really rich just to brake the engine in and then jet it down to dia it in better.

if it is glowing at idle, i would richen up the fuel screw/pilot jet. if it is glowing from above idle to 3/4 throttle, i would drop the needle clip one position. if it glows from 3/4 to full throttle i would go up on the mainjet.
