Sold my 400ex today...

Six years to the day of purchasing old faithful, my 99 400ex, I sold her to my friend. Not to fear though, I simply bought my pop's 00 400ex with even more trick goodies than mine. Pics are on my page, and it has many less hours on it, though I need to say this about my original 400ex in light of the beating Honda sometimes gets for being conservative, not "leading the pack" with a new performance quad coming out every year etc.....
I purchased my 400ex on November 20, 1998 after deciding I wanted Honda reliability, and that is what I got. 6 years of trouble free riding/racing. I never did anything more than change the oil and filter and check nuts and bolts. Heck I have no idea what the spark plug looks like. It was that bulletproof.
Now I have 400 number 2, with even better exhaust, suspension and looks. It stands out in the crowd and I can say with much certianty that sure I'll eventually get a 450cc plus quad in the future, but in the meantime I know that the other 400 class quads will have their hands full with "White Envy" in the dunes.
Go Honda, and thanks for the trouble free fun!!!
P.S. I guess I have to change my sig now....

No, I'm very happy with the LTE, in comparison with White Bros. E, FMF Powercore IV, Bill's and DMC Duals, the LTE shines above offering more torque and HP, plus it looks cool and is much quieter. It's weird when riding because it reminds me of the stock sound as you don't hear the rapping of the exhaust as I did with the other systems. After a while, you realize how it can get a little annoying on long rides.

i figured you wouldn't want to sell it. we just needed a good comparison. all we use is full exhausts systems down here because they made a pretty big difference over the slip ons we have tried for drag racing. we are currently using sparks x-6, x-4, and full hmf systems. all seem to be pretty good exhausts towering over the slip ons we have used. i haven't been able to get my hands on a LTE or a LRD yet though.

From what I've heard, Sparks is a excellent exhaust. I have also gathered that performance of the LTE is close to the sparks, only quieter. No quoeter isn't the right word, throatier, deeper kind of like a nice deep rumble of a V-8.
I have also read in another forum that Michey Dunlap of 4 Stroke Tech has been testing the LTE and likes it alot for what that's worth.

If you can get a complete White Bros for $250, then I say GET IT!!! The E-series is one of the better systems you can get for the 400ex. It worked better than my old FMF setup IMO. That seems like a real good price and I think you'll be happy with the gains it makes.
