quick question on RE-BORING

Default quick question on RE-BORING

Im having my 250r rebored as i have blown my piston and rings to smitherines,

so its gotta be rebored

im not sure what sort of piston and ring set it going in, but whatever will this boost the performance and will i use more fuel etc?

The biggest difference you can make with a bore job is to get a higher compression piston

hi mate, so if i dont get a high performance piston, then it will just be like standard, but just oversized bore and piston?

yes. Usually a high compression piston is the same price as a stock one; that is why almost everyone gets the higher one

Look here ; but don't buy it there, you can find them cheaper elsewhere

thanks, ive got a uk price for a wiseco piston and ring set and come in these sizes

Sizes available are 70,70.25,70.5,70.75,71.0,71.25,71.5 and 72.0 mm

he gets them cheaper than catalog price.

Do you know if the current bore is stock or larger (previous bores)? Who-ever you ahve bore the cylinder can tell you what the current specs are and you can make the appropriate decision on which size to purchase. If the person thats boring your cylinder does not insist on having the piston on hand, then he does not know what he is doing or does not take pride in his work.

hey,

its a stock bore, never been bored before, my dad said he just going to re bore it and out a oversize piston in?

so probaly just taking the scratch out or dent or whatever.....

you cant buy a high comp piston for the 2 stroke like a 4 stroke. if you want more compression mill the head.
