Default Quads for the Rich

How much money is to much money for an all terrain vechicle. i understand a love for the sport (in this case mudding), but the msrp for these vechicles are getting outrageouss. 8600 for the new Polaris 800. Who has the money these days to support their family, pay bills, own a vechicle or two and on top of that afford an atv which costs nearly as much as a kia? This coming from a seventeen year old boy. One would think that a company would lose money producing such a machine in bulk without an overwhelming amount of consumer consumption. What is a reasonable amount of money to pay for an 05' model to this forum?

Companies make and sell products the people buy. Do they NEED them? Can they really afford them? If people weren't paying that much then the companies wouldn't be selling them and staying in business. I agree, it is expensive! I paid 6,000 for mine a few weeks ago. it hurt, it hurt bad buying it for that much, but I wanted another quad so the family can ride together, and now I just can't buy any more tools or toys for a while until get my play money built back up a little.

as a father you wanted an atv that your whole family could enjoy that says more about your personality then anything, but notice how many are buying these atvs for themselves. or have enough money to buy one for both their son or daughter. todays sport is appealing alot more to the richer of the middle class. to many people focus on having the biggest or fastest quad in the world. If this wasnt true the companies wouldnt be selling their product. Many consumers save for years to buy what they want, now people buy these high priced atvs without blinking an eye. what ever happened to the sport appealing more to the rural citizens than the suburban homes. besides the fact of urban sprawl and the rapid growth of todays new developments.

your right these fun loving machines are expensive but I think it's worth it. I have two of the 700EFI's and spent $7,250 for each of them. I only got them both on the special agreement with my dealer that he would give me two HJC chromium acx2 helmets, goggles, orv stickers for free. all together I got about $600 in free stuff with my double purchase. the price on the 800 is high but still lower than the honda rincon which is closer to 9K.

Its part of the game--The man with the most toys wins,, 8600 is not bad seeing I payed over 10,000 last year for my 2004 mxz800 ho.. and now i think it is worth like 7500 or something... pathetic
