Won't Idle without the choke, what do I adjust?
#1
I got my quad started up. Just rebuilt it all with RCR service. With the choke in the 1/2 position it idles and runs great. With the choke off it wont idle, but as long as your on the throttle it runs good.
I know I just need to adjust the carb, but I dont know which adjustments to make. I turned the idle screw in 1 full turn and it didnt really change anything.

try adjusting the trottle cable untill you get a fast idle, then back off 1 1/2 turn then adjust idle screw on the carb and you'll run great! make sure it's at running temp when you do this!

Ok. I have a 39pwk carb. 175 main. air screw 1.5 out. Dont know about the pilot or clip.
I ran it thursday and it wouldn't idle, but did run good once on the throttle.
I adjusted the idle screw and it got to a nice idle yesterday, but didnt ride it until today. The temp is about 30 degrees cooler today than it was thursday. It ran like junk today. Idle still good, but now power mid or top. Checked the plug and it was a greyish color, not black, but close. It acts like its just bogging down.
I am running a BR8ES plug.
Any thoughts.

you should look at you clip see where it is sitting and find out what pilot u have. on mine i started with a 170 main and a 38 pilot and needle in the middle then soon dropped the main 1 at a time for where i live at my house i am at 1675 ft and i ride up to 4500 ft on gps have been higher just this is where i ride most of the time as we speak mine has 163 main 35 pilot and i am under 1 turn in on pilot and i just dropped needle all the way down and have not had it out yet last ride i started with needle in the middle and dropped it down one and it was getting better i might be able to go to 160 but have not been able to get out enough. when u go out just try and flick your choke on at half and full throtle if it stumbles u are rich if it takes off you are lean when i first started mine was like yours not much power up top and i think my needle is a EEH and not a EEG as i was told this was more for race port i hope this helps u a bit

Yeah, I thought it might be running lean, so I choked it, but that made it worse, so I am assuming its rich. Hopefully I'll get a chance to mess with it tomorrow, I have a bunch of jets here, so I should have what I need to get it going right, just gotta get out and do it.
