batterys running at 12.2 volts off 13.0 volts on 14.5 with throttle.. tach is fine unless lights are on then it reads off by about 400 when im past 5500 rpms

sorry the only problem I have had with my guages so far is that the lens is fogging up.

 

How do you know its off by 400 rpm?

 

well lets say i have my quad hammered and its running around 6000 rpms ?? well that doesnt seem right at all so when i flip off my lights it right away jumps up to 6450 or something like that

 

400-450 rpms isn't much! Does the engine speed change when the tach jumps? It could be the lights are putting enough of a load on the engine to pull the rpm's down.

im pretty sure its not the engine because if i flip the lights off it will jump back to where its supposed to be andn as soon as i turn them back on it will go right back where it wasbefore within a second time

 

Since the engine speed doesn't change I would say that either the lights are pulling to much current or the tach is not grounded good. Check the pickup to see if its mounted securely. Check the lights to ensure none are brghter than the rest. Check the plug on the speedo.

If none of this works hit it with a BFH[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

nothings wrong, its normal, mine does the same, when u flip the lights it messes with the current somehow and changes it. i dont understand it but it does it somehow.

 

The only time mine messes up is when it gets wet. But I do like the BFH sugestion. Mine is about to get that method soon.
