Hi guys I may be into some funds that can used for purchasing my first ATV. I'm looking for the best value that 2500-3000 can buy, obviously a used machine is the target. I'll be using the machine for big game hunting and light work. Needs 4x4, and enough power to climb the rockies, riding two up.

First - I know a guy who has possibly the best maintained Artic Cat 500 - 1998 vintage with very low miles who might be persuaded to let it go for slightly more than your price range. Its already setup with the rear box with seat, drop rear basket (with MRP plugs for a carrier for the deer stand, and front box.. Tank heater, windhield, mirror, and several other extras. Extermely (excessive compulsively) cleaned and serviced.

Second - riding on steep inclines, whether climbing or traversing with 2 riders on a single rider quad is really really dangerous. The wife and I did this for a couple of years and after two years of roll over or tip over accidents $80,000 in medical bills and many many broken bones - we purchased the arctic cat two rider TRV. In fact - we enjoy sharing the riding with friends and family and bought a 2nd TRV just for others to ride.

Check out the pictures and bio by clicking the camera to the left of this message. You will see that we also ride in the rockies and know what we are talking about.

If you have that kind of money in cash - make it a down payment on the correct machine for your intended use. Trust me - I've lost more in wages then the new machine cost.

You may want to look at a used Kodiak, big bear, or wolverine.

Depends on what is in your area. I like my Honda rancher for 2 ppl. It may not be the biggest and baddest machine. It will gewt you where you need to be for less money.
