Help choosing new A-Arms???
#1
Just got in from riding in Ocala Forest here in Florida....Had a small collision with a guy on a YZF 450 and we hit head on out of a corner and my left tire hit his left tire.....Long story short is I need new A-Arms. Looking at either armadillo or TBR. Your input would greatly help make my decision....I run a stock setup right now but plan on getting some elka suspension after X-mas.....I ride on trails throught the forest and the trails are wide enough to accomodate any length.....But overall what is the best length to run? +1,+2,0..etc
Thanx

i have the armadillo. they look pretty sweet when on the bike. the construction is made well and for the money i was very pleased. if i had the money for tbr i probably would have got them but tey carry that hefty pricetag. i feel like you dont get alot more than the armadillo arms if going with tbr. dont get me wrong i did my research and tbr sounds like a great product. they are also a little more adjustible than the armadillo. if money is not an issue go with them but if it is and still want way more strength and a better product than stock go w/ the armadillo.JMO

Sorry I can't offer advice on the A-arms, but I will bet you were riding Big Scrub and hit someone while riding the power lines. My friend hit someone on a 450 there a few months ago cause the mounds are so high and the turns are blind when you are ripping through there. How are the trails now? I was there right after the hurricanes and it was a mess with all the trees down in the trails.

DRAGOROUS, i run the stock size arms because i do alot of trail riding, the ds is big for trails and it gets tight so i dont need any more width. the a-arms do not come with tie rods. the standard size arms will work with you stock tie rods. the arms do come with ball joints. the ball joints are pretty strong. i have a spare set that i paid 90 bucks for from hsd strongarm and when they came i was surprised that they were the exact same ones on the armadillo arms.( if some one needs a set of ball jointsthat fit almost all aftermarket arms for the ds pm me.) e-bay also has billet tie rods all sizes for no more than 22.00.

It was pretty cleaned up....We were at lake delancy cause' Big scrub was full....there were soooo many people out there.....but we had a blast......Someone mentioned in one of the posts that the +1 will correct some steering issues on the DS at higher speeds.....Might go with the TBR's due to the adjustability...Anyone out there tried both of em? which is better in the long run?

I don't know about the TBR a ams, but I have the ASR adjustable uppers and they work well. You can find them on ebay for around 150 plus shipping. they have heim joints instead of the sealed ball joints like on the stock arms. They are easy to adjust and offer alot of flexibility for different terrain.
I haven't been to Delancey yet. Glad to hear it's getting cleaned up. We usually do a few trips a year to ride ONF. Other than that it's Croom, Bartow track, or the few spots we have locally with some decent jumps. Where are you in Fl?

I'm familiar with new port richey. I used to be a bail bondsman and I wrote in Hills and Pasco. I am in Brandon (South East Hills county). Are there any good places to ride up there? We have a few down here but with all the building up the spots are vanishing quickly. We have one that is private access and we are putting up a little track. We should get together some time for a ride.
