A little proof filter and airbox mods really do help a Raptor 660

Well, this may be kinda pointless as I think it is well known .... but what the heck. I got my Pro-flow foam filter kit and installed it with the lid off and also cut two 1.5in holes (one in the back and one in the bottom) of the air box bottom. My CT racing pipe is on back order so this was all I have done so far. Then, my bro calls me up to meet him in the dunes with some others and I wanted to take both my quads out so we could ride together as he doesnt have one. I didnt know if the Raptor would run right .... but what the heck. Well, it ran great up to about 1/4 throttle and then nothing beyond that (makes sense). So, what to do .... hey, lets try try to "clog " it back up to stock performance. I had already put the outer foam filter on it but obviously it must not clog it up too much. Next tried putting a rag on top of the filter and that didnt do much at all. Then I folded up a plastic trash bag and put it on top of the filter ... ran much better but still bogged down in 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Manuevered the plastic bag around a bit to get it to completely cover the top, sides, and rear of the filter and tucked in real tight ... worked great. So basically, I had to "clog up" 3/4 of the filter (also these are the areas that will get the most air flow) to get it to run ok. Yeah, yeah, maybe a stupid idea but I just used it to cruise around camp and a few small dunes and didnt "get on it" much as I didt want to run it hard with the possibility of it still being way lean and damage soemthing. Anyways, more proof this mod should help if there is any doubt.

I tell ya what.. if you take the baffel out of the stock pipe it woulda ran perfect!!!!!!!! Full throttle or whatnot.. Still it shouldn't have been running that bad with just an air filter.
Now if your pipes not comming for a while.. you can experiment by taking the baffle out of the pipe. putting it air filter in and jetting it as a slip on (dyno jet kit) to your elevation!!! Will make a diff. then you can see how much faster your CT pipe is from, there!!!!!!!
