Hey thanks... i decided to buy it anyways, and i was just wondering if other people liked it... i have done a lot of reading... and think this stuff would be pretty kool..... secondly did you just get the 3/16", or did you end up getting the 1/4".

Also when you bought the amsteel blue cable, i take it you bought the fairlead, but did you buy another hook? or did your stock hook fit? it was mentioned to me that because of the metal in the eye or the rope, it might not fit into the original hook.... any advice?

actually i used my stock winch hook...it was fine and fit perfectly..i only bought the 3/16" rope mainly because 3/16" is much stronger than the same diameter steel cable...you can find the ratings at www.okoffroad.com...if you buy 1/4" you won't get as much on the spool...3/16" is plenty sufficient for any utility bike IMO...

well i have done my home work.... and called the OKoffRoad.com guys.... a few days ago, and asked them if the 1/4" will fit on the spool, and asked also what they usually sell(3/16 or 1/4), and i was told they sell about 50/50 of the 2 types, and people always think bigger is better, he basically told me, if i don't plan on pulling jeeps or trucks out of the ditch with my ATV, then 1/4" isn't really needed, but he says people like the comfort... anyways about the spool thing, i asked that exact question, and i was told.... in all the ropes they have ever sold of 1/4" they only had 1 call about one that didn't fit, and the guy said that 2ft was hanging out... but after he used it, it tightened up on the spool and everything was ok... so for cost, i am still undecided if i want to try out the 1/4" i know i don't need it, but man wouldn't that be funny, a quad pulling a truck out of the ditch.. hahahahaha... but i actually ordered the 3/16" it is rated at 1200 pounds more than the steel.

congrats man...i know you'll love the stuff...i always keep about 1 1/2-2 foot of rope left out of my winch because the winch on my Grizz is mounted so low that normally when i'm stuck it's over the winch so i drilled a hole in the center bar of my front rack and installed a hook so i can hook my winch hook right up to that and tighten it down alittle so i've always got about 2 foot out...what kind of winch do you own? if you have a Warn A2000 like i do let me know so i can help you out with attaching it to the spool...i did it one way with a cotter pin but another man i know has done it another way that seems more safer and reliable so let me know ok?...you can e-mail me at g_force_racing_i4@yahoo.com if you want or keep posting on this i check back about once a day or so...

FWIW, when I had my 4x4 rockcrawler truck I was about to buy sythetic rope. I have seen it work and liked it A LOT! no kinking and it's LITE!

Unsure if he sells small enough rope for the ATV crowd, but go to Rockstomper His name is Scott and he is a helluva guy and treats people right.
