Default The true meaning of Christmas!

I myself have been blessed in more ways then one. I may not be rich, but God has blessed me with a loving wife and 2 wonderful sons. These riches money can't buy. When I look into the eyes of my son Michael ,my youngest I see the joy and love he brings to me. Christmas to him is just getting presents from Santa.
There are alot of folks, young and old who aren't as blessed as we may be. These Holidays aren't the happiest days of there lives. There are many familiys who don't have the money to spend on their children like we do. There will be little children all over this world who will wake up Christmas morning without a thing to open.

One thing I like to do for Christmas is this. In our community there are good will stores and Places who will give gifts to the low income families. These families have CHILDREN to. Make a difference in a little ones life and make a small donation. It doesn't have to be a bunch of money. If you look around our houses there are alot of very nice things that we don't even use or need. I know my son has more stuff then you could think of. Take a little time this Holiday season and make a Merry Christmas to those less off. It may be a simlpe toy or a nice warm coat that's to small for our children. Christmas is a time of giving.

Merry Christmas from the Mussi's

very nice to know that there are people who care and appreciate these things in life.we need more people to be like your family.alot of people are selfish and very used to always having everthing and not caring about anyone else but themselves.take the extra moment to give or do something nice for someone .i will. thanks for your inspiration.

What a wonderful and caring topic. The older I get[47]the more I appreciate life and the little things that go with it.Especially at Christmas time.

Im not filthy rich but I also did'nt forget my roots. It is a time for giving and lets remember, there is somebody, somewhere that needs a helping hand,if you can, make sure you reach out and help.

Happy Holidays!

funny to read this thread, as I'm going to an annual luncheon on Friday where we donate unwrapped toys to the needy. most guys in our fraternal orginization bring a toy. i send my wife out with a $50-100 allowance (depending what we can afford that year) and she usually ends up with tons of presents to donate. I'd rather see the less fortunate get something than watching my kids pig out at the gift-trough every year. I hope one day they understand what it means; "it's better to give than receive". I believe in it. I always liked the line from Forrest Gump, went something like..."Mama always said a man only needs so much money and things before he's just showing off". Boy, ain't that the truth.

LOL....straight to "H..E.. Double Hockey Sticks" .....
I'm sure Jesus would be smoking illegal drugs around the CHRISTmas tree..........NOT!!!
The TRUE meaning of CHRITMAS starts with Christ....refering to Jesus Christ....God's (Maker of us all) own Son.
We give gifts at Christmas, because God gave us the gift of forgiveness for all the things we have done wrong (sin) and/or will do wrong. (The wages of sin is Death....permanent seperation from God and all those that we care about) The Wise Men gave Jesus gifts, because they knew what Jesus was there for, the Old testiment explains that to us, Jesus was here to be the permanent sacrifice as payment for your sins and mine. We should all trust that Jesus was our sacrifice, and savior from "H..E.. Double Hockey Sticks". If you are thankful that God has give you the ultimate gift to you by sending his own son to be punished for your wrong doing, the least you could do is "Give to those less fortunate than you" at Christmas time. Without God's Blessings we all loose.
It really pushes my hot button when someone takes Christmas and makes a statement that goes against what God wants for us. He doesn't want us to be high on drugs (another lie given to us by the devil that makes us think it is cool), he wants us to be high on Love for one another and Love for God. We are to Love one another as he has loved us, what better way than to give and not expect to recieve in return. After all God gave us his son, and we choose weither to accept him or to ignore him. God expects nothing in return. So turn away from your evil thoughts and turn to Jesus........for he is the Reason for the Holiday. Not Santa, Not Toys, Not Drugs, Not Drinks, Not Lights, Not any of those material things are worth anything when we are cast into the lake of fire. So GIVE, and be thankful you have something to give, for all gifts are from God.
Merry Christmas to ALL, even those of us who continually think evil things all the time!!
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the d'butt isn't going to preach here.. but I appreciate the efforts of others. The d'butt family is very involved in local church activities.. thanks to my parents, it has always been an important part of my life.. and it is one tradition that I have passed down to all my children. My wife is church secretary at our local church.. and we both sing in the choir.... so you can say much of our life revolves around activities there...

Our local church has a giving tree every year, and it has been a tradition for our family to let our kids pick one of the numerous needs that are on it, and then we make a day of going out, and letting them pick out the perfect present for that individual. We also make sure that they use their own money... and yes we give them extra chores to earn the money... it isn't the work, or the money.. it is instilling in them the feeling that they are fortunate to be living in a home filled with love, and respect for their fellow man. It is pretty neat to watch them go through the purchase process, and the thought that they put into it.

This year also, we were blessed to be asked to contribute letters to servicemen in IRAQ that have noone to send them letters. I got some people in our choir involved, and because they were teachers in our local school system... they managed to involve their classes.. I have to tell you, you cannot believe the depth of these kids in their writing from the heart. It has been good to know that as a parent, despite our less than perfect efforts, we must be doing something right... So far, we have sent over 300 letters, cards and drawings/paintings to our service members... The repsonse they are getting in IRAQ has been unbelieveble.. I can't put into words the boost these hero's are getting knowing that Americans haven't forgotten them...

With my health problems, and the birth of our first grandson, this holiday season has meant more to me than any I have personally experienced in my lifetime. I want to give everyone a heartfelt wish for a memorable holiday season, and many more days to spend with your families and children. Please give your children a great big hug from this old soul...

Be safe..

Dragginbutt.

I have to agree that drugs have no place on this thread or even on this forum, try to keep it real.
Now as in the spirit of Christmas my work adopted a family for the holidays, a mom w/3 kids who were victoms of domestic violence.
We are going to do everything from provide them with groceries to buy them the gifts that they need and want.
